Are you ready for the ultimate fresh tomato sauce recipe? Well, look no further because those juicy tomatoes are making their way into stores and farmers markets, and this is the best time of year to savor their delicious flavor.

This year, I’ve experimented with grilling tomatoes and even whipped up a refreshing cold tomato soup, but nothing beats the simplicity and deliciousness of fresh tomato sauce.
It’s incredibly easy to make – once you try it, you’ll wonder why you haven’t been making it all along. The key ingredient, of course, is the freshest, ripest tomatoes you can get your hands on. Those tasteless Styrofoam versions won’t cut it for this recipe.
As a side note, I always opt for whole grain pasta (just like my bread). Look for it in the pasta aisle in various shapes and sizes.

In a single serving of angel hair pasta (2 ounces), you’ll get a whopping 7 grams of fiber and 8 grams of protein – all from one simple ingredient: whole grain durum wheat flour.
And the best part? It tastes just as good, if not better, than regular white pasta. It all comes down to what you top it with- and the fresh tomato sauce is a perfect match!
Now, onto the sauce itself! Simply roughly chop the tomatoes – no need to seed or peel them.

Next, mix the tomatoes with fresh basil, garlic, olive oil, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Let it sit and marinate while you attend to other tasks.

Voila! That’s all there is to it. To warm up the sauce, simply ladle it over hot pasta and sprinkle some grated Parmesan cheese on top for an extra touch of elegance.
The resting time allows the tomatoes to release their juices, and when tossed with the pasta, it creates a flavorful, juicy combination. This sauce is truly a game-changer!
Don’t feel restricted to serving this sauce only on pasta. Try spreading it on grilled bread or drizzling it over spaghetti squash or zoodles for a healthier twist.
