Looking for an affordable way to achieve beachy waves and texture in your hair? Try making homemade sea salt hair spray with better ingredients and customize it to suit your hair type and preference. It also makes for a great gift or stocking stuffer!

Hey there, lovely readers! How is your week going so far? I hope you are enjoying the summer vibes!

Today, I have an exciting beauty DIY to share with you: homemade sea salt hair spray! If you’re familiar with sea salt spray, you know it can give your hair that coveted beachy look while adding texture and waves. Instead of shelling out money for expensive store-bought versions (which can cost up to $40 per bottle), why not make your own at home? Not only is it budget-friendly, but you can also tailor the ingredients to suit your hair needs.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into this DIY sea salt spray recipe that you can whip up in no time. Save this recipe for when you need a quick and easy hair refresh!

Homemade Sea Salt Hair Spray

What Does Sea Salt Hair Spray Do for Hair?

My favorite way to use sea salt spray is to create natural waves, add texture, and absorb excess oil. It’s perfect for enhancing waves and curls, boosting volume, and giving your hair a fresh-from-the-beach vibe. You can even incorporate nourishing ingredients like argan oil and coconut oil for added hair health benefits.

What You Will Need:

1 tablespoon sea salt (I recommend Redmond’s real salt, or Epsom salt as an alternative)

2 teaspoons argan oil (you can also use coconut oil or your preferred natural oil)

10 oz hot or warm water

Optional: 4-6 drops essential oil (such as lavender, rosemary, rose absolute, lemon, or tea tree)

A glass spray bottle

How to Make Your Own Sea Salt Spray:

Step 1

Combine the sea salt and hot water in a bowl, whisking until the salt dissolves completely.

Step 2

Add the argan oil and essential oil, continuing to whisk until fully incorporated.

Step 3

Carefully pour the mixture into a glass spray bottle using a measuring cup.

Step 4

Give the bottle a good shake, then spritz the spray onto dry or slightly damp hair, scrunching it in for added texture and volume. Store the spray in a cabinet for up to 3 months.

How to Use Sea Salt Hair Spray:

You can apply sea salt spray to wet, damp, or dry hair. I personally love using it on dry, unwashed hair for extra volume and vitality. When applying to wet hair, allow it to air dry without using heat tools. It’s a foolproof way to achieve effortless waves and a touch of natural fragrance if essential oils are included.

Does Sea Salt Spray Damage Hair?

As with any hair product, moderation is key. While salt-based sprays can be slightly drying, using them 2-3 times a week should be sufficient. The argan oil in this DIY spray helps to nourish and moisturize the hair, minimizing potential damage.

Here are some tips to prevent damage:

– Limit the use of heat styling tools

– Add a teaspoon of aloe vera gel to retain moisture

– Use a heat protectant when using heat tools

– Avoid over-washing your hair

Overall, this homemade sea salt hair spray is a simple yet effective hack that won’t break the bank. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you! If you’re short on time, save this post for a future rainy day.

Now, I’d love to hear from you: have you ever tried sea salt spray? What’s your go-to hair must-have? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Until next time,

Gina
